Upcycled Pumpkin Coasters

Let’s add some Fall to our homes y’all.

Fall isn’t really my thing, I’m more of a springtime gal, but that doesn’t mean I can’t find some joy in decorating for it.

I’ve been flitting about my new home in Lexington and found this absolutely wonderful Lexington Center for Creative Reuse. I plan to take many many classes there and utilize all the fantastic crafting finds!

For instance, this project uses upholstery samples. I didn’t even have to bring home the whole book of samples, just found two I really liked and purchased them!

Add to that some thread, double sided fusible and my AccuQuilt GO! Me and we will have some cute coasters in no time.

SUPPLIES: upholstery samples or other heavy weight fabrics, enough for a 5″ square top and bottom for each coaster you want to make, double sided fusible such as Heat n Bond Ultra Hold or Hotfix, Aurifil Thread, your AccuQuilt cutter of choice (for this project I grabbed my handy dandy GO! Me) and the GO! Fall Medley Die.

Cut the fabrics and your interfacing into 5″ squares.

Fuse the interfacing to your main fabric and then to your backing fabric according to the manufacturer’s directions.

Place ONE!!! square at a time on the pumpkin blade. Place some right side up and some right side down to get pumpkins that go in either direction.

Pass the die through the cutter.

They’re looking good!

The heavy duty interfacing should hold, but I never trust “should” so I did a zig zag stitch around each pumpkin for good measure.

Aren’t they adorable!

I love how matchy/non-matchy they are. My favorite is the one in the upper right, which is yours?

Lovingly, Lissa
